Citizen Leadership Programme
What is it?
An innovative 2 day leadership development programme designed to enable citizen participants to:
- Increase confidence in leadership skills, knowledge and behaviours
- Develop communication skills to enable effective engagement with decision makers
- Become more formal leaders and to actively engage in networks
- Become a powerful conduit for shared learning from their own lived experience
Why do it?
There is an increasing role for Citizens in the future transformation of public services in times of financial constraint to deliver the Five Year Forward View of citizen health and wellbeing. This calls for radically different relationships with Citizens, moving away from the idea of patients as consumers of services to one of sharing the power of decision making.
The Citizen Leadership programme has been successfully piloted and found to be effective in engaging hard to reach groups (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Women in particular) and in changing the mind-sets of those leaders and decision makers who themselves contributed to the programme.
