Skills for Care: I Care…Ambassadors
What is it?
I Care...Ambassadors help people to make informed decisions about their careers. Ambassadors are care workers who deliver careers activities to inspire and motivate people to work in adult social care - what makes them so special is that they've been there and have experience in the job they're promoting.
Adult social care employers can join the initiative and nominate their staff to become ambassadors.
Local schools, colleges and community groups will request an ambassador to deliver a careers activity such as a talk, presentation, activity or a stand at a careers fair. You might also choose to offer taster days or workplace visits as part of your activities.
Why do it?
When you join I Care...Ambassadors your details will be added to an online Search Register which is accessed by hundreds of teachers, careers and employment advisors every month - so it's a great way to build links with local schools, Jobcentres and community groups.
You'll get exclusive access to an online resources bank with guides, videos and templates to help you contact local schools and deliver engaging activities.
It's also a great way to develop your existing staff, especially their communication and presentation skills. Talking honestly and enthusiastically about their job can also really motivate them.
