Key Aims

Skills for Care helps to create a well-led, skilled and valued adult social care workforce. We provide practical tools and support to help adult social care organisations in England recruit, develop and lead their workforce.

  • Resources to support recruitment and retention including a dedicated section of our website www.skillsforcare.org.uk with practical tools, resources and information on seminars

  • I Care…Ambassadors – frontline care staff trained to go into schools and colleges to talk about working in social care

  • Think Care Careers interactive website for people interested in working in adult social care and teachers/careers advisors with information on job roles and case studies of people working in the sector

  • Resources to support skills and knowledge development and progression on topics including the Care Certificate, Manager Induction Standards, apprenticeships, dementia, mental health and safeguarding

  • Workforce Development Fund – money available to support staff to complete qualifications

  • Learning provider directory signposting to endorsed learning providers who have met our quality standards

  • Provider of national social care leadership development programmes

  • Expertise in social care workforce challenges, workforce planning and best practice solutions

  • Support for registered managers through networks and membership

  • Social care workforce intelligence and data expertise
